Recaps and New Wheels

I mentioned in yesterday’s Menu post that life had been pretty rough for a while. Things kept breaking or refused to stay fixed. Then there was that business with an Ebay seller who tried to abscond with our money while not delivering his product.

Apparently, we weren’t the only ones that had been swindled and both Ebay and our credit card company stepped in to make matters right.

The most annoying ongoing situation has been here on this blog. On February 20th, around midday, my comment notifications and then the comments themselves stopped working.

The good people at JetPack have been stellar at helping me out. You guys know I won’t endorse just any old thing, but hand to heart, JetPack has gone above and beyond.

They not only helped me narrow down the culprit that was stopping my comments, but they helped me ask the right questions to my web host so I can get their end fixed. Never had I had such excellent customer service.

If you don’t use JetPack for your WordPress site, I heartily recommend it.

The comments appear to be working now, as are the notifications (sometimes). The only thing not working (regularly) at present is my Contact form. I am getting some emails through the Contact form but not all. If you’d like to help me test it, go to the Contact page at the top menu and give it a go. If it works, I’ll let you know.

And please leave me a comment if for no other reason than because I’ve missed hearing from you guys!

I’m debating whether to do a State of the Homestead report next Monday or wait for mid March. We have some new arrivals coming to the farm, and a few who will be leaving.

Greg is staying, along with his new ride. πŸ™‚ We saw this at a recent Mother Earth News show and instantly saw its possibilities. I’m pretty sure my reason for getting it and his are at opposite ends.

Greg’s promised to get rid of his old ATV and his motorcycle. That should defray the cost of this monster.

It’s a fun ride and quite useful for the farm. The bed can haul all the hay and feed we’ll ever need to move. Plus it has a middle seat, just for Nana, the Wonder Dog.

Yes. We bought a UTV (Utility Task Vehicle) for the dog. Now you’ve heard everything.

Leave me a comment! Have you ever driven an ATV or UTV? Would you let the dog drive?

No husbands were hurt during the buying of this vehicle.

  1. I showed a pic of your UTV to Hubs and told him we needed one. He laughed. Because, yeah, we don’t really need one. But it’s so pretty.

Sorry things have been a headache for you lately. :hugs: Fingers crossed everything evens out and it’s smooth sailing ahead. (Or rather smooth UTV riding.)

Were you at the Mother Earth News shindig at the Bell County Expo Center? If so, sorry we didn’t get a chance to hook up. I was there as well with the Un-Included Club sharing their urban ag adventures.

Hope things are on the upswing to smoother sailing and I hope this comment comes through πŸ™‚

    • Angela! How did I miss you?! I even thought about you when we drove past Temple.

I went by the Un-Included Club but all I saw were little kids. Me, not having any, I just moved on. πŸ™‚

Did you enjoy the show? I thought it had more varied booths last year, but strangely enough, I learned more this year.

PS The notification for your comment came through, but not Dru’s. A mystery!

    • Mike: He hasn’t asked for anything in a long time, so he was due.

I wish I could figure out why I get notifications for some of you and not for others. Angela’s comment notification came through, but not for you and Madeline. It’s frustrating.

At least I’m getting comments again. πŸ™‚

We drove something similar during one of our excursions in Cozumel. And by we, I mean Hubby. I was just a passenger. But it sure was fun!

Hopefully you get notified of this comment because I DO have an account, since my mug shows up. πŸ˜›

  4. Your guy looks almost as happy as your pup. πŸ™‚

True fact: I’ve never ridden in an ATV, UTV or even a golf cart. I have ridden on back of motorcycles when I was younger, but no more of that now that I’m more fragile. I stick to walking. πŸ™‚

LOL I can see Nana’s keen for her turn to drive πŸ™‚

Glad Jetpack’s helpful. I use them, but touch wood, haven’t had problems and reason to contact their helpdesk.

Although my slow internet connection is driving me mad!

  6. We let our corgi sometimes sit in the driver’s seat in our lap, but mostly he was in the passenger side or the lap of the person in the passenger seat πŸ™‚ Glad to hear you got good customer service! It can be few and far between these days.
